TAJ has a new hall director, and with the changing of the staff comes a lot of confusion. Apart from her unpacking and adjustment to the Ripon climate, Misty Joslin shares information on her life, past, present and hopes for the future.

What is your official title?

Misty Joslin: My job title is a Residence Hall Director for Johnson, Tridorms and the Apartments, so the TAJ area, and I'm also program coordinator for Career Development.

What do you predict about your time here at Ripon?

MJ: One thing that I would really like to see and do is to kind of get to know everyone, since I'm coming in, obviously, knowing nobody so I need to just build a relationship. My goal is to know everyone by the end of the semester, especially my area, I have about three hundred faces.

What drew you to Ripon?

MJ: Originally I'm from Menominee Mich. which is just into the U.P. which is about two hours north. Prior to this job, I worked at Baker College in Owosso, which is about forty minutes north of Lansing, about seven hours from here. What originally drew me to Ripon was that I graduated from Albion, which is the small environment so you get to know students very personally, so those were the things that drew me to Albion when I was looking for a college as a student, so definitely as a staff member getting to know students on that level and kind of of helping in that environment was very appealing to me.

What are your hobbies and interests?

MJ: I love to be creative with crafting. I love movies, and I love to spend time with family and friends. During the summer I play softball. At my previous job I helped run Intramural sports, including Kickball and a Volleyball tournament.

What made you interested in Residence Life as a career option?

MJ: One thing that really got me involved with it was during my senior year at Albion I was an R.A. After I graduated I got a job I really didn't like for a year, and then when people began to go back to school I realized how much I missed it.

What is your family like?

MJ: I have a very large family, three sisters and two brothers, It's a very close family. This last Christmas was actually the first time in several years that we were all there together.

What is one thing that not many people know about you?

MJ: I'm secretly in love with Brett Farve, which isn't much of a secret. I grew up a Packers fan, even when I was a little kid I grew up watching him and was fascinated by him. It was very interesting the first time they [the Packers and the Vikings] played each other, I didn't know who to root for.
